It’s a Wicked Pissah reunion of sorts – keep your eyes out for some old school Pissahs to make an appearance on the track… gonna be fun.

The Gloucester Triathlon is looking for volunteer kayakers and surfers to serve as water observers and rest stops for swimmers competing in this year’s Triathlon. I did it last year and it was really fun. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, have them drop a note to Janda Ricci-Munn (jrm@jandariccimunn.com) to sign up. The race starts at 7:30a on Aug. 8th — volunteers need to be there around 6:30 to muster up and get sorted… for other info on the race: http://www.gloucesterfishermantri.com/

This is a great event and promises to be an annual so grab your aquatic vessel of choice and pitch in.

It is interesting how art materials work in different conditions. I did these painted drawing boards over the last two weeks in as I am sure many of you know extremely hot conditions. Here is a little trick to keep your pallet from turning into the Sahara Desert . I put some wet paper towels down on a shallow pan and put a piece of wax paper over the top. The wax paper absorbs the water but at a much slower rate keeping your paint from drying out. Look for my follow up post this winter when I give you tips on how to paint in sub-zero temperatures.

I thought that looks seaworthy. I always loved the scene in Joe vs. the volcano where Tom Hanks ties the trunks together to make a boat. The lady asked me what I was going to do with it. I told her she wouldn’t believe me if I told her. I wonder if she would have sold it to me if she knew. Somewhere there is a doll crying because there is nothing to put her clothes in. It is made from just about everything you can imagine. Wood, clay ,paint, metal ,foam ,paper ,cloth. dimensions 21″,19″,10″

Yes I find this stuff as weird as you do but I am learning to accept it.

2. The Sketchbook Project sounds great, and it will be touring the US beginning next year, the closest stop being in the groovy city of Portland. On the verge of their 2 year anniversary, Art Haven is holding a logo contest! This contest is open to all ages and up to 3 entries per participant are permitted. Contest deadline is July 9th. The new design should reflect the Cape Ann Art Haven mission statement (above).

We’re doing it again this summer. The Hive grand RE-Opening Show..
